Aston Martin kicks off the new year with a revised spec for the Vantage Roadster, dubbing it a “technical reinvention.” It’s a clever way to frame what amounts to a handful of mechanical upgrades, resulting in a slightly faster yet heavier vehicle. Aston Martin claims these changes make the “highly anticipated” Vantage Roadster the “most potent front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car” on the market.
That’s an interesting take, as I’ve yet to hear anyone—whether friends, family, or colleagues—excitedly proclaim, “You know what? I’m really looking forward to the highly anticipated, most potent Aston Martin Vantage Roadster.”
In truth, many of these mechanical enhancements could likely be achieved through a third-party aftermarket tuning company. But enough of my verbosity—here’s what you need to know about the updated Vantage Roadster:
Aston Martin Vantage Roadster: Quick Facts
The 2024 technical revisions introduced in the Vantage Coupe are now carried over to the Vantage Roadster, incorporating features such as Active Vehicle Dynamics, an Electronic Rear Differential (E-diff), and Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers with bespoke tuning.
The Vantage Roadster is powered by Aston Martin’s 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, delivering 665PS and 800Nm of torque through an eight-speed paddle-shift transmission.
The Vantage Roadster features an electronically controlled limited-slip differential driving the rear wheels, enabling explosive performance with a 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph.
The electric folding roof opens or closes in a swift 6.8 seconds, even at speeds of up to 31 mph (50 km/h). Structural and suspension adjustments have been made to account for the rearward shift in weight distribution.
Priced from £175,000, deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q2 2025.
