Did you know? I thought Audi was ditching its Coupe lineup—but I could be wrong; that might actually have been Mercedes. Anyway, 2024 has been a tough year for Audi and its partners over at VW HQ. Sales are slow—slower than paint running uphill. While Audi anticipates a recovery in 2025, it remains committed to producing Coupe body styles, or as I like to call them, “alternative travel.” Coupes provide carmakers with the opportunity to expand their model ranges—and, let’s be honest, their profits. Some coupe alternatives work; others don’t.
Take the Audi Q5 Sportback, for example. Entering its second generation, it looks remarkably similar to its first iteration. According to Audi, the new Q5 is better and more dynamic than its predecessor. Well, it should be, right? After all, the engineering team’s job isn’t to make it worse.
You can expect entry-level models to be packed with tech. The base model starts at £52,450, and if you prefer a tech overload over simple elegance, the Q5 Sportback might just be your cup of tea. It boasts three screens: a digital driver’s binnacle, a central infotainment system, and an additional passenger display.
Audi claims the new Q5 Sportback is the greatest thing since sliced bread. What you need to know is this: the Q5 Sportback comes with AWD as standard, will be offered in seven trims, and will feature both petrol and diesel engine options. Prices start at £52k rising to £76k for top spec SQ5.
Sales commence on January 14, 2025, with first customer deliveries expected by May 2025.
